The Friends of Lorenzo Fellowship is an association of volunteers that owes its name to Lorenzo Mazzoleni, a mountaineer from Lecco who lost his life at the age of 29 on K2 after having reached the summit with an expedition organized by the Ragni di Lecco (Lecco Spiders), the worldwide known mountaineering group, in the summer of 1996.

To remember Lorenzo and keep alive his desire to help those with whom he came into contact as a climber, the Friends of Lorenzo Fellowship has set up a medical unit in Askóle, the last village in the Upper Braldo Valley on the route to K2, in Karakorum, north-east Pakistan.
