Activities

The Friends of Lorenzo Fellowship commemorates the climber buried in the ice of K2 and promotes projects to aid the populations of the Upper Braldo Valley whom Lorenzo encountered during his last expedition.

Since 1997 the Fellowship has assisted the families of Askóle and the nine surrounding villages. The Lorenzo Mazzoleni Dispensary is the hub of the health care activities, organized and supervised by Maria Assunta Lenotti, a doctor from Varese, Italy, who is assisted by other voluntary doctors and nurses.

There are two permanent local nurses, the married couple Zahra and Farman, who have completed their professional training and attend periodical refresher courses thanks to the support of the Fellowship.
